Collision is now accepting non-fiction, art, music
and photography for the upcoming Spring 2007 issue. The
deadline for ALL submissions is Friday, March 2, 2007.
Please note that we have changed our submission guidelines.
As of January 1, 2007, Collision ONLY ACCEPTS SUBMISSIONS
FROM CURRENT UNDERGRADUATES. Submissions from former undergraduates
or current graduate students will not be considered.
CONTENT
Send us your best creative non-fiction: personal essays
and narratives, travel pieces, profiles and poems. Or,
send us your favorite art, photography or music.
PRIZES
First: $150
Second: $100
Third: $75
All prize-winning writers will receive an invitation
to read at our April release party. All published writers
will receive a copy of the Spring 2007 issue.
GUIDELINES
WRITERS MUST BE CURRENT UNDERGRADUATE OR GRADUATE
STUDENTS.
This is pretty much our only major stipulation. Undergraduate
Students from outside of the U.S. are welcome to submit.
Each piece should be under 3,000 words, and no more
than 3 prose pieces or 8 poems should be submitted.
We welcome submissions of multiple pieces, as well as
work from multiple genres (art, photography), but ask
that you send all submissions AS ATTACHMENTS IN A SINGLE
EMAIL. In other words, don't send us more than one email.
The only exception to this is music submissions. Music
files are big; we understand. Music must still be submitted
as an email attachment, but if you are submitting a
poem and a song by your band, it is okay to send us
two separate emails.
To submit, email your pieces (as attachments) to collide@pitt.edu
by the deadline. Please include:
Your Name (as you would like to see it published)
College or University
Contact Information
A brief (think 5 lines), third-person bio(we promise
it looks better this way).
If you make use of any outside sources in your pieces,
please include a bibliography with the relevant pieces.
No one likes a plagiarist.
